Overview

Welcome to the Nephrology Department at Atrius Health. Our team provides comprehensive care for patients with problems affecting their kidneys. We provide the following Nephrology services:

  • Evaluation and preservation of kidney function
  • Evaluation and management of proteinuria
  • Evaluation of renal causes of hematuria
  • Evaluation and management of electrolyte abnormalities
  • Medical management for the prevention of kidney stones
  • Expertise for difficult-to-control hypertension
  • Management and coordination of treatment for patients who need dialysis or plasmapheresis

Atrius Health nephrologists are engaged in research in one of several areas of kidney disease including hypertension, diabetes, kidney stones, polycystic kidney diseases, acute renal failure, renal transplantation and hemo and peritoneal dialysis. All of our nephrologists also hold faculty appointments at Harvard Medical School.

At Atrius Health, your nephrologist is supported by an experienced multidisciplinary team consisting of nurses, nutritionists and case managers, focused on providing you with comprehensive nephrology care. We provide extensive patient education about specific kidney diseases, treatment options and the role of nutrition in maintaining good health. We also provide long-term follow-up for our patients undergoing dialysis or after renal transplantation.

We are deeply committed to partnering with you, your primary care physician and other members of the medical team to reduce your risk for kidney progression and secondary complications. Our advanced electronic medical record ensures that members of your nephrology care team have access to your medical history and the latest information regarding your condition, your medication and your treatment.
