Urogynecology Department
The Urogynecology Department at Atrius Health provides state-of-the-art diagnosis and treatment options to women who suffer from urinary incontinence, urinary frequency and urgency, and pelvic floor prolapse (the bladder or uterus falling out of the vagina). If your bladder control is inadequate or you feel something pushing down from the vagina, we can offer you relief from these distressing problems with many forms of treatment. Bladder control is a serious issue for women of all ages. In fact, millions of American women suffer some degree of incontinence and most suffer silently. We can help.
How Can We Help?
Our first step is to determine the cause of your incontinence. We will take a complete medical history and perform a physical evaluation. You may be asked to complete a bladder symptom questionnaire and a bladder diary (a 24-hour record of how much liquid you drink and how much you urinate). In some cases, we will also do a urodynamic exam during a second appointment. The urodynamic exam often helps us understand more precisely the cause of your bladder problem.
During your visits for evaluation and treatment, we welcome any questions you may have. We want you to understand what is happening to your body, the examination and tests you undergo, and your treatment plan.
Urogynecology services are offered at several locations.
At Atrius Health, your urogynecology specialist, primary care physician and other members of the medical team work closely to coordinate your care across all services. In addition, our advanced electronic medical record ensures that our medical professionals have easy access to your medical history and the latest information regarding your condition, your medication, and your treatment.
