Breast Care at Atrius Health

Welcome to Atrius Health’s breast care service. We are here to give you support and provide you with evidence-based care throughout your journey.

Whether you have a benign breast condition or a breast cancer diagnosis, we understand the physical and emotional challenges and offer a multidisciplinary approach to create truly comprehensive, supportive care. Our team includes radiologists, breast surgeons, oncologists, pathologists, radiation oncologists, nurse practitioners, physician assistants, social workers, genetics counselors, physical therapists and more. Together we aim not only to treat your condition but to empower and educate you to live your healthiest life.

Our Services Include:

  • Diagnosis and treatment of a wide variety of breast cancers, including breast cancer in young women, pregnant women, and men.
  • Breast imaging - 3D mammography, breast ultrasound, and breast MRI. Stereotactic, MRI guided, and ultrasound guided needle biopsies. Savi Scout® placement.
  • Diagnosis and treatment of mastitis and breast abscess. Treatment for infections in pregnant and lactating women.
  • Risk assessment calculations and screening recommendations to individuals with a family history of breast cancer and/or dense breast tissue.
  • Genetic counseling and testing.
  • Evaluation and management of breast pain.

Meet Our Team

Claire Cronin, MD

Dr. Claire Cronin

Dr. Claire Cronin is the Executive Chair of Specialties and the Chief of Breast Surgery for Atrius Health. She is a graduate of Tufts University School of Medical and the Beth Israel Deaconess Hospital surgical residency program in Boston. She holds an MBA from Babson University and an MFA in creative nonfiction from Lesley University.

Atrius Health recruited her in 2016 as the Chief of Breast Services, where she grew the department to three sites. She was named the Chair of Surgical Services in 2019, followed by Executive Chair of Specialties overseeing 26 medical and surgical departments the following year.

Dr. Cronin participates in national and local organizations including the American College of Surgeons, the Association of Women Surgeons, the New England Surgical Society, and is currently serving as the President of the Boston Surgical Society.

Claire is originally from the Netherlands but grew up in South Africa, Canada, and Washington DC. She met her husband at McGill University and moved to Massachusetts, where they raised their family.

Jean Kim, MD

Dr. Jean Kim

Dr. Jean Kim is a board-certified breast surgeon. She received her medical degree from Tufts Medical school and completed her residency and internship at St. Elizabeth’s Medical Center. Prior to joining Atrius Health, Dr. Kim was a breast surgeon at Mount Auburn Hospital where she was a clinical instructor and co-director of the Hoffman Breast Center. Her clinical interests are in the treatment for both benign and malignant breast diseases.

Dr. Kim is an active member of the American Society of Breast Surgeons, American College of Surgery, and Boston Surgical Society.

Originally from South Korea, Dr. Kim grew up in Massachusetts where she and her husband raised their families.

Stacy Sanders, MD

Dr. Stacy Sanders
Dr. Stacy Sanders received her medical degree from The George Washington School of Medicine & Health in Washington, DC. She also holds an MS in health policy and clinical practice from Dartmouth Medical School in Hanover, NH, and an MHA from the University of Washington, School of Public Health & Health Sciences in Seattle. She completed a general surgery residency at the University of Massachusetts Medical School and a surgical breast oncology fellowship at the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, MN. Dr. Sanders is board certified in surgery.

Kelly Kennedy, NP

Kelly Kennedy, NP

Kelly Kennedy is a Nurse Practitioner and Program Coordinator for the breast services department. She is a graduate of the Simmons College Master’s in Nursing Program and has a Bachelor of Science from the University of Rochester with a minor in psychology and a business certificate.

Atrius Health recruited Kelly in 2019 to direct patient navigation for the breast services department to help new cancer patients seamlessly coordinate their treatment and care. In addition, she has a passion for educating patients about early breast cancer detection and prevention. She runs the high-risk breast program and offers risk assessment calculations as well as detailed and individualized screening plans for women with family history of breast cancer or other risk factors.

Kelly is originally from New York but moved to the Boston area for graduate school where she met her husband and started her family.
