Preceptors

Kathy Zaiken, PharmD - Co-Residency Program Director

Kathy-ZaikenKathy Zaiken received her Doctor of Pharmacy Degree from Northeastern University in 2001. After graduation, she completed a Community Pharmacy Practice Residency at Walgreen's Patient Care Center in Boston. She has been a faculty member at MCPHS since 2002, and is currently a Professor of Pharmacy Practice. Kathy has served as the Co-Residency Program Director for the MCPHS /Atrius Health PGY1 Residency since 2006. She also maintains a clinical practice site in ambulatory care at Atrius Health in Beverly where she provides CDTM services to patients with diabetes, hypertension, and hyperlipidemia. Kathy completed the Academic Leadership Fellows Program through AACP in 2007. Kathy is a Senior Editor for Applied Therapeutics: The Clinical Use of Drugs 12th edition, and has co-authored the COPD chapter in the 11th and 12th edition. Kathy serves on numerous committees at the University, and is an active member of AACP. In her free time, she and her husband attend their daughters various sporting events and go on family walks/hikes with their 70-pound goldendoodle named Bailey.

Ewan McNicol, PharmD, MS - Co-Residency Program Director

Ewan-McNicolEwan McNicol is originally from Scotland. After requalifying as a pharmacist in the US, he received a Master’s degree in Pain Research, Education and Policy from Tufts University School of Medicine. He later received his Doctor of Pharmacy degree from Massachusetts College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences in Boston, MA. He is currently the Co-Residency Program Director for the MCPHS /Atrius Health PGY1 Residency. He is an Associate Professor of Anesthesiology at Tufts University School of Medicine, and former director at the School of Medicine for the course “Introduction to Clinical Pain Problems”. He has been a faculty member at Massachusetts College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences, Department of Pharmacy Practice within the School of Pharmacy-Boston since 2018. He maintains a practice site in ambulatory pain management at Atrius Health in Kenmore Square in Boston. In his spare time, he likes to play and watch soccer, to run along the Charles River, and to go to concerts.

 

Tanya Iliadis, PharmD

Tanya-IliadisTanya Iliadis received her Doctor of Pharmacy degree from Massachusetts College of Pharmacy in Boston. She worked as a Clinical Pharmacist for the Anticoagulation Management Services at Beverly Hospital Hunt Center where she also started an education series for nurses on Asthma, COPD, and MTM. She joined Atrius in 2006 as a Clinical Pharmacist for 7 years, then assumed the role of Sr Clinical Pharmacist of Service Management and Training for 4 years. She later assumed the role of Associate Director for 3 years and is currently the Director of Primary Care Clinical Pharmacy Services. Since 2010, Tanya has been an Adjunct Assistant Professor of Pharmacy Practice at MCPHS. In 2013, Tanya received the MPhA Distinguished Young Pharmacist Award. In her free time, she enjoys yoga, running and most of all, family time with her husband, daughter and son.

Jackie Burke, PharmD

Jacqueline-BurkeJackie Burke received her Doctor of Pharmacy degree from Northeastern University in Boston, MA and completed her PGY-1 residency with Northeastern University and Harbor Health (teaching/ambulatory care/geriatrics-specific program). She is the Senior Clinical Pharmacist for Clinic Services at Atrius Health. She helps to oversee the management and function of the Clinical Pharmacy Clinics across all of Atrius and has been here since their inception in 2013. She precepts the resident during their Direct Patient Care 1 rotation with a focus on helping the resident become acclimated to how the clinics run in our organization and familiarize themselves with Collaborative Drug Therapy Management (CDTM) services here at Atrius. She was recently recognized as the Massachusetts Pharmacists Association (MPhA) Distinguished Young Pharmacist. In her free time, Jackie is always busy chasing after her young 2 kids and dog. She loves to travel and explore both locally and internationally.

Whitney Hollands, PharmD

Whitney-HollandsWhitney Hollands received her Doctor of Pharmacy degree from the University of Connecticut in Storrs, CT. After graduation she completed her Pharmacy Practice Residency (PGY-1) at Waterbury Hospital in Waterbury, CT. She has been an informatics pharmacist at Atrius Health since 2013 and is currently the Senior Clinical Pharmacist of Informatics. Whitney also serves as an ambulatory care clinical pharmacist and sees patients for chronic disease management for primary care as well as behavioral health indications. In her free time, she is enjoying the outdoors with her dog and husband.

Kevin DeLeonardo, PharmD 

Kevin-DeLeonardoKevin DeLeonardo received his Doctor of Pharmacy degree from Northeastern University in Boston, MA. After graduation he completed his Pharmacy Practice Residency (PGY-1) at Penobscot Community Health Care in Bangor, Maine, focused on ambulatory care. Kevin provides chronic disease state management for cardiometabolic conditions and prescribes under a Collaborative Drug Therapy Management (CDTM) agreement. He serves as the drug information preceptor for this residency. In his spare time, he enjoys playing music and and trying new restaurants in and around Boston.

Peter Collins, PharmD, CACP

Peter-CollinsPeter Collins received his Doctor of Pharmacy degree from Northeastern University and is a Certified Anticoagulation Care Provider. He spent over five years as an Advanced Practice Clinical Pharmacist at the Anticoagulation Management Service at Brigham & Women’s Hospital and is currently the Clinical Pharmacy Coordinator at the Anticoagulation Management Service at Atrius Health in Massachusetts. Peter has a passion for teaching and has served as a preceptor for pharmacy students and residents throughout his career, being named Preceptor of the Year in 2019 by the Northeastern University School of Pharmacy. He has also contributed to multiple publications that include peer-reviewed studies, patient cases, institutional guidelines, and textbook chapters. Outside of the pharmacy, Peter enjoys watching sports, financial investing, exploring new restaurants and breweries, and nature walks.

Enxhi Plaku, PharmD, BCPP

Enxhi PlakuEnxhi Plaku received her Doctor of Pharmacy degree from The University of Florida College of Pharmacy in Gainesville, FL. After graduation she completed her Pharmacy Practice Residency (PGY-1) at Kingsbrook Jewish Medical Center in Brooklyn, NY and her Psychiatric Pharmacy Residency (PGY-2) at RWJ Barnabas Health Behavioral Health Center in Toms River, NJ. She is the Residency and Student Affairs Program Manager and precepts the resident during their Direct Patient Care II rotation. Enxhi provides chronic disease state management for cardiometabolic and behavioral health conditions and prescribes under a Collaborative Drug Therapy Management (CDTM) agreement. Outside of pharmacy, Enxhi enjoys baking, reading, hiking, and traveling.
