Meet Our Pride+ Care Team
While Atrius Health has been proudly caring for the LGBTQIA+ community in our practices for decades, our comprehensive Pride+ Care program includes a core team of PCPs, along with behavioral health clinicians and other clinical team members who have additional training and experience to address the unique healthcare needs of LGBTQIA+ individuals.
Meet our Pride+ Care primary care providers (PCPs), who care for patients at our Cambridge and Boston – Copley Square locations, and our Pride+ Care team members.
If you are a new adult patient (18 years or older) looking to establish care with one of our Pride+ Care PCPs, you can book an appointment by using the links below their profile pictures or by calling our Central Registration team at 1-800-249-1767.
If you are a current Atrius Health patient who would like to select a Pride+ Care PCP or have any questions about the Pride+ Care program, please email our Pride+ Program Manager.
Primary Care Provider (PCPs)
Dr. Alex Gonzalez
Boston (Copley)
He/Him/His
Prior to joining Atrius Health in 2022, Dr. Gonzalez served as medical director at Fenway Health, an LGBTQ+ focused federally qualified health center (FQHC) in Boston, for 16 years.
“Caring for LGBTQ+ patients is a passion for me. Queer people continue to experience negative health outcomes as a result of discrimination, stigma, decreased care access, and a lack of clinical and cultural competency in caring for this population. It’s extremely gratifying to be able to provide the kind of care to someone that they have been deserving and in search of their whole life; and to continue to provide that care across their lifespan, through the ups and downs they may face, helps to build strong relationships that are healing and will reduce these disparities.”
“My philosophy of care is to put the patient at the center of what we are doing. Together with the rest of their care team, I work with the patient to comprehensively assess their health and then review options for improving it. I believe in the value of continuity of care, seeing patients year after year to help them overcome new challenges or create new health goals.”
Dr. Hubert Roberts
Boston (Copley)
He/Him/His
Since completing residency, his focus has continued to be providing compassionate, empathetic and evidence-based care for underserved communities. As a member of the LGBTQIA+ community himself, his focus on this community is a personal one, which is why he is excited to care for patients in Atrius Health’s Pride+ Care program.
“When it comes to LGBTQIA+ patients and their unique healthcare needs, my approach is to listen first. After that, I provide evidence-based guidance as a member of the larger medical team that will assist patients in their healthcare journey.”
“When a patient comes to see me, they can expect to have the freedom to be their full selves while receiving compassionate, empathetic, and evidence-based healthcare from their medical team.”
Dr. Christopher Alonzo
Cambridge
He/Him/His
“In the spirit of openness and transparency, my hope is to be visible as a member of the LGBTQIA+ community working for the benefit of individuals within the LGBTQIA+ communities. I want to be available as a medical provider who is knowledgeable in areas of internal medicine, HIV care, and gender care; who provides a space that respects an individual's identity; and who builds a relationship that promotes health and wellness. Care with me would reflect a team-based approach between myself, my patient, and the team at Atrius Health Cambridge; a focus on evidence-based therapy; and efficient communication.”
Emily Waldon, PA-C
Cambridge
She/Her/Hers
As a member of the GLBTQIA+ community, I understand the importance of people in our community being seen and heard, and this is especially true in a healthcare setting. I am excited to bring the pride + services to the forefront of healthcare for Atrius patients.
My philosophy in caring for members of our community is that each person is unique and has healthcare needs that are unique to them. I think it is important to understand my patients as a whole person in order to provide the best comprehensive care for them.
When a patient comes to see me, they can expect a personalized experience where we collaborate on what their health care goals are and work together to achieve their optimal health.
Online appointment booking for Emily Waldon will be available soon. In the meantime, please contact our Pride+ Care program manager who can assist you.
